Hennessey Invites Korean War Veterans to Recognition Ceremony
COATESVILLE – Rep. Tim Hennessey (R-Chester) invites area veterans of the Korean War to a special recognition ceremony Saturday, Sept. 20, at 11 a.m. at the Parkside Complex, Sumneytown Pike in the borough of North Wales in Montgomery County.

“I am pleased to join my House colleague, Rep. Kate Harper (R-Montgomery), for this outstanding event that will pay tribute to those veterans who served our nation with honor during the Korean War,” said Hennessey. “This occasion will mark the 60th anniversary of the Korean War Armistice and the following alliance between the Republic of Korea and the United States. Korean War veterans from throughout the 26th Legislative District encompassing northwestern portions of Chester County are invited to attend.”

Hennessey said this is part of an overall 11th Annual Cultural Day in North Wales, and is a cooperative effort with the 21st Century America-Korea-China Leaders Society.
The event will feature South Korean Ambassador to the United States, Se-Loo Son, who will present Korean War veterans with a “Gratitude Medal” for service in that war. The medals are made of the melted barbed wire from the Demilitarized Zone (better known as DMZ) that separates South and North Korea.

Lunch will be served at 11 a.m. that day with the medal presentation to follow at 1 p.m.

To participate in this ceremony, please contact Hennessey’s district office in Coatesville at (610) 380-8600 by Monday, Sept. 15.
