Hennessey Comments on Apprehension of Coatesville Arson Suspect
2/19/2009
Rep. Tim Hennessey (R-Coatesville) today issued the following statement after learning that law enforcement officials on Thursday apprehended a suspect in the string of arsons that have plagued Coatesville:

“I was thrilled to learn the police have a suspect in custody. I applaud the efforts of law enforcement personnel at the local, state and federal level, and our District Attorney Joe Carroll, for working together to capture this suspect.

“While this is positive news for our community, it may not be the end of the story. We don’t know for sure how many people were involved in these arsons and there may be more suspects that need to be found before this case is closed for good. Hopefully, this signals the beginning of the end of this nightmare for local families.

“Residents should remain vigilant in their efforts to prevent future arsons by following the same steps they have taken the past few weeks. We should keep up our guard to protect our community. My office staff and I will continue our work to help the families affected by these devastating fires.

“Now, it’s time to let our justice system serve its purpose. There will be a time for evidence to be presented and punishments to be doled out to those found guilty.

“In the meantime, we applaud the work of the brave men and women – our law enforcement personnel and firefighters – who are working long hours to protect our communities and our families.”
